Role Summary
OMCO SOLAR LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for our growing team in the Phoenix, AZ Operations. The ideal candidate will have had exposure to or demonstrate general knowledge of cost accounting methods within the manufacturing or industrial sector, in addition to a deep understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. The position will also focus on project costing, cost analysis, and inventory reporting.
The Senior Accountant will be to maintain the general ledger, review financial statements, research accounts, analyze financial records, prepare journal entries, develop spreadsheets and reports, perform monthly closing functions, and ensure the financial integrity of plant operations. Key Responsibilities
General Ledger: Post monthly journal entries and accruals for preparation of monthly financials.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including cost of goods sold (COGS), variance analysis, and detailed financial reports for management.
Audit: reconcile G/L account balances to audit schedules in support of annual audits.
Cost Accounting: Oversee the preparation, analysis, and management of cost-related financial data, including labor, materials, overhead, and project-specific costs.
Project Accounting: Track and manage costs associated with ongoing projects, ensuring proper allocation of expenses, timely reporting, and maintaining budget accuracy.
Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
Cost Variance Analysis: Perform regular analysis of actual costs versus budgeted costs, providing recommendations for cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
ERP System Management: Utilize and maintain accounting software (e.g., ERP systems) to track costs and generate reports. Assist with system improvements and troubleshooting.
Collaboration: Work closely with operations and project management teams to ensure accuracy of inventory transactions, production reporting, and financial reporting.
Inventory Costs: Monitor and analyze inventory levels, ensuring proper valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
Provide financial information, analysis, and support to Plant Controller and corporate management team as required.
Assists with timely invoicing on projects & review of open AR balances as needed.
Takes part in annual physical inventory process for tag entry and reconciliations.
Skills/Competencies
Experience in monthly closing and preparing financial statements and schedules.
Strong project costing experience, including tracking and reporting on project budgets and timelines.
In-depth knowledge of cost accounting methods, standards, and inventory management.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and solve complex financial issues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting and cost accounting within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
